When requesting a quotation, we ask that you forward photos of existing stairs and railing and/or all floor level blueprints, including cross sections, inspirational photos (there are many photos on our website for ideas), wood type etc. Please make sure to include your contact info, telephone number and address for installation purposes to info@cdsr.ca. This will help speed up the quoting process.

All pricing is valid for 30 days from the quotation issue date. Price does NOT include any staining/clear coating/painting. Price is subject to change after on-site visit. Engineering fee may apply. *Initial quote is free; any further estimates may be subject to additional fees. All items above remain the property of Creative Design Stairs & Railing Inc. until the total balance is paid in full.

On-Site Consultation:

 

Due to Creative Design Stairs & Railing Inc. workload, there is a minimum non-refundable charge for all on-site consultations prior to approving a quote(s). In the event you move forward with Creative Design Stairs & Railing Inc after on-site consultation fee has been made, consultation fee will be applied to your deposit amount. Additional on-site requests maybe subject to charges.

 

 

*PLEASE NOTE: Any amendments made to materials or measurements after on-site visit and/or shop drawing/landing heights/material orders have been made may void the approved quote and reset the lead time. All work is to be completed in a professional manner according to standard practices. Any alterations or deviation from what is outline within the approved quotation; involving extra costs will be executed, only upon written orders by the client, and will become an extra charge over and above the original approved quote. All agreements are contingent upon strikes, accidents, or delay beyond our control. Owner is to carry necessary insurance during construction.

Delivery/Installation Criteria

STAIRS: REQUIRED

• Roof Shingles Installed

• Stable climate control

• Windows and Exterior Doors Installed

• Before Drywall and Flooring

• Clear path to installation site/drop spot

• Clear stair opening *for stair installation services only*

• Removal of existing stairs/railing guards may be subject to additional charges if required

• NO nosing installed - additional charges will apply if nosing is installed prior to stairs

• Finished poured basements *for stair installation services only – We do NOT hang stairs*

 

RAILING: REQUIRED

• Flooring thickness sample supplied at the time of manufacturing.

• All exterior features complete

• Drywall installed

• Taping and spraying complete

• Priming complete

• NO flooring installed – additional charges will apply if flooring is installed prior to railings

• No trim work installed

• A clear sizable location to set up for cutting, within a sensible proximity to work being completed by Creative Design Stairs & Railing Inc – additional charges may apply if location of set up is outside and/or away from installation location

• All finished stairs must be covered and protected

• No other foot traffic, or trades working within a 10’ radius of our installation

• GLASS INSTALL IS APPROXIMATELY. 3 WEEKS AFTER RAILING INSTALL.  GLASS PRICE INCLUDES STANDARD TEMPERED SAFETY GLASS, TEMPLATES AND DELIVERY. STARPHIRE LOW IRON GLASS IS AN UPGRADE.

*PLEASE NOTE: Creative Design Stairs & Railing Inc. will not be responsible for damage to interior finishes if terms of service are not met. Additional installation charges may apply if customer is not prepared at the time of agreed upon installation date. Delays in installation may result in timing delays.

 

It is the customer's responsibility to provide a clean, unobstructed work-site for the stair and railing installation, that includes hydro in a controlled atmosphere with a maintained ambient temperature of around 20 degrees Celsius <68 degrees Fahrenheit> and humidity level around 55%. We will not be responsible to remediate any deficiencies caused by anything other than the result of the stairs and/or railing installation. (I.e. other trades, environment, etc.)

All Creative Design Stairs & Railing Inc. employees are fully covered by Worker’s Safety & Insurance Board (WSIB)

 

DURING RENOVATIONS:

We try our best to limit the amount of dust; however dust will be created through the process. Please remove or cover any valuables and/or furniture you wish to protect from the working area prior to installation. Creative Design Stairs & Railing Inc. does not tarp.

All Creative Design Stairs & Railing Inc. employees MUST wear protective safety gear at all times under WSIB regulations, this includes but not limited to; steel toed safety footwear– NO EXCEPTIONS!

To ensure the integrity of your flooring, it is the customer’s responsibility to protect the flooring where Creative Design Stairs & Railing Inc. installers will be walking and/or working. Creative Design Stairs & Railing Inc. does not remove and/or dispose of existing stairs and/or railings. This process would be part of your General Contractors scope of work. Removal and disposal of ceramic tile, carpet, nosing and staples are completed by others (when applicable).

 

Exterior Stairs & Railing:

Exterior Stairs:

Creative Design Stairs & Railing Inc. does not offer installation on wood based materials of any kind for outdoor use. Wood is a porous material that can absorb moisture, leading to swelling, warping, and rotting. Exposure to sunlight can also cause fading and discoloration. Creative Design Stairs & Railing Inc. does not work with pressure-treated woods of any kind.

Exterior Railing/Guards:

Creative Design Stairs & Railing Inc. offers installation on exterior railing and/or guards using powder coated aluminum OR exterior grade stainless steel/glass only.  Creative Design Stairs & Railing Inc. will not install exterior railing/guards supplied by customer. All exterior railing/guard materials must be purchased from Creative Design Stairs & Railing Inc.

Exterior Glass:

All glass railings/guards in Ontario must conform to the                                   certification.

*Additional charges apply to specialty glass glazing for exterior use

Weather Conditions:

Scheduled exterior installations are seasonal

All scheduled exterior installations are dependent on weather, and is solely up to Creative Design Stairs & Railing Inc. to either continue with scheduled work, or reschedule based around developing weather conditions.

STEEL STRINGERS:​

Due to the unique characteristic of ordering steel stringers, NO REFUNDS are given on such order.​

In the event should you cancel your order, the remaining balance for the steel stringer portion will still be required. In which you will have a maximum of 15 business days to arrange pick up of steel stringer before it is disposed of by Creative Design Stairs & Railing Inc.

Supply Only Orders:

It is the customer’s responsibility for all measurements and/or templates needed to create the order, order pick up and material finishing. Creative Design Stairs & Railing Inc. is not liable for any inaccuracy made by the customer. Therefore any adjustments and/or re-make are subject to full charge.

Customer Supplied Materials:

• LUMBER:

It is solely the discretion of Creative Design Stairs & Railing Inc. to approve using materials supplied by the customer. Customer supplied lumber must be professionally kiln dried and free of nails, staples, etc. and only then Creative Design Stairs & Railing Inc. may approve on using your supplied lumber.

• STAIR TREADS:

It is solely the discretion of Creative Design Stairs & Railing Inc. to approve using supplied solid stair treads. We do not use/install tread caps manufactured and/or supplied by another company other than Creative Design Stairs & Railing Inc. very own made tread caps.

• NOSING:

Creative Design Stairs & Railing Inc. does not install nosing made and/or supplied by another company.

• SPINDLES:

Creative Design Stairs & Railing Inc. does not use/install any metal spindles bought and supplied from major box store companies as they do not come with engineering and/or meet with Ontario Building Codes.

• REUSING EXISTING MATERIAL:

 Creative Design Stairs & Railing Inc. will not reuse your existing materials, as we cannot warranty the products and/or installation. Many different issues arise when reuse existing materials including complying with the Ontario Building Codes.

 

All materials manufactured by Creative Design Stairs & Railing Inc. meet the Ontario Building Code requirements. All materials supplied by Creative Design Stairs & Railing Inc. are engineered to meet Ontario Building Codes.

 

 

Returns:

We want you to be completely satisfied. If for any reason you are not happy with your order, you may return items to us within 20 days of your original purchase under the following conditions:

 

• Prior approval must be made by Creative Design Stairs & Railing Inc. before returns are brought back.

• Returns are only accepted for standard inventory items only. NO RETURNS on Special Order Items including but limited to stairs, nosing, custom made posts and custom spindle orders. 

• NO RETURNS on steel stringers - no exceptions.

• All returnable items must be returned in the condition in which they were received. - Uncut, unfinished, clean.
